My Favorite Mess Kit
Backpacking is an adventure, and you’ll need the right gear to make it happen. One of the most important pieces of equipment for any backpacking trip is a mess kit. A mess kit can be used as a cooking pot, something to eat out of, and even your coffee cup.
A good mess kit should be lightweight and durable enough to withstand being tossed around on your journey into nature plus you can stick it directly in a fire if necessary to boil water.
Speaking of which, even when I'm going on a day hike in a city park, I take a day pack that has a single-walled stainless steel cup with me. I know it's a very small chance I'll need to boil water to make it safe to drink, but it's a good habit to follow when I hike further out into the backcountry.
